What Is the Xcel Neighborhood Retrofit Program?
The Xcel Neighborhood Retrofit Program brings whole-home electrification to select neighborhoods in the Denver metro area. Funded by Xcel Energy as part of its Clean Heat Plan, the program provides significant financial incentives to help homeowners switch from gas to high-efficiency electric heat pumps — dramatically reducing energy costs and carbon emissions.
Zero Homes is operating the program end-to-end, from project management to expert installation. ARUS Consulting performs the in-home energy assessments that determine which upgrades will benefit your home the most.
Two neighborhoods are currently eligible:
Valverde (Denver) — Income-qualified track. Eligible homeowners can receive 100% of project costs covered.
Aurora — Market-rate track. Eligible homeowners receive 70% off heat pumps and 50% off every other recommended measure, up to $10,000 per home.
These incentives are in addition to Xcel Energy's existing rebates and the Colorado State Heat Pump Tax Credit — meaning your total savings can be substantial, ~$21,250.
